What is Freedom Fences?

We build fences and spay and neuter dogs living chained in Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties.

We work to educate pet owners and the public on why chaining is unhealthy, unsafe, and inhumane.

Volunteers are the heart of our organization and we truly cannot do what we do without them. They often don't get the recognition they deserve and work quietly behind the scenes. We want you to see who these folks are!  Our first volunteer is Maria. Maria is our "Dog driver" She is a gracious soul that loads up the van on Friday night, leaves SC at the crack of dawn Saturday am, and drives the 7 hours to Winchester, VA where she meets a volunteer from State College, PA. SHe has been known to drive and care for 25 dogs on a trip which is no easy task. Maria also fosters dogs that are awaiting transport. Without Maria's heart and dedication we wouldn't be able to save as many dogs.

become a sponsorA lot of dogs come through the Wag Shack and the goal is to heal, love, and socialize them so they are ready for their forever families. We work with several rescues as close by as Columbia and as far away as Vermont. The Wag Shack is key in helping keep the euthanasia rate down at our local shelters, if only in a small way. In order to keep the Wag Shack going though we need your help each month. We have a team of volunteers that come in daily but due to work schedules we are having to hire someone for a few AM shifts. In addition we have food, water bill,  and electric bill., It costs about $1300 a month just to keep things rolling as they should. And this doesn’t even include our veterinary costs! Our human friends here worry about making ends meet every month. Any little bit you can give can help them worry about money less, and spend more time cuddling me! We all win.

We would sure love to have your monthly support. It doesn’t need to cost a lot. We have several levels of giving that you might be interested in. Here’s what you get in return (other than lots of tail wags in gratitude from me!).

We are excited about our upcoming event- Celebrating Freedom! A year ago we began a major fundraising campaign to relocate the Wag Shack, our shelter intervention building. We didn't want to move but we were forced to either stop rescuing dogs or find new property due to zoning issues. After a year of raising funds, closing on property, and spending a lot of time renovating and cleaning the property we are ready to have our GRAND RE-OPENING! So  be sure to mark your calendars for May 7 from 1-5 pm. We will have lots of food and drink and also live music from 2-4 by Spencer Rush. Leashed dogs are welcomed or you can hang out with some Wag Shacker dogs that would love to spend some time with you! Bring a lawn chair and relax!
